Deeply Satisfying Music

2 Members

Exploring and enjoying featured Individual music tracks, full albums, and complete Radio/Internet LIVE programs, VIDEOS or RECORDED podcasts of inspirational and significant music that starts from my foundational roots and trunk of Classical Music (Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionism, Early 20th Century) and then branching into New Age, Jazz, and World Music Genres that include “polar regions of contemporary music” (and any other genres or categories of music that I may have missed).

The background (of the Photo Above) depicts root-like designs all over — thick and thin, wispy yet strong. In the center, is a boy reaching up to another person’s hand. This connection represents the idea and concept behind Sequoia’s Reach.

Sequoia’s Reach was created and developed by the John Richard Dougherty (1946-2016) who would have enjoyed seeing this collaboration and adaptation of his tour-de-force works.

The Background Cover Art was designed and hand drawn by Hilary Holmes.
Digital Creation was assisted by Lowell Aaron Court.

About Sequoia’s Reach

Mighty Sequoia Trees tower hundreds of feet in the air and can withstand intense environmental pressures like lightning, fierce winds, and forest fires. One of the strengths of this giant tree is what goes on with the roots below the surface. Unlike many trees, the roots reach out and interlock with the roots of the other Sequoias around them. As a result, each becomes empowered and reinforced by the strength of the others. Much like the Sequoia Trees, it is our hope that we all reach out and love, support, empower, and help each other in our life’s journey. Referring to all of you as individuals, may the world be a better place because you lived in it.

Also inspired by the CJSW Radio Katharsis/Processed Program —

This is a place for synergistic communications — pioneering the collection of multimedia and written words to further express and enhance the musicality that exists within each of us.

Please select or click on or copy-and-paste or type the link (of the underlined text above) to your Internet Browser to visit and read and listen to my ground breaking and foundational archived web log (blog) article and originally recorded music via its link of the previously identified and sent electronic mail messages (e-mail) to many of you on this past Star Wars Day (May 4th, 2023 A.D.).

And for those of you who don’t like reading first and/or would like or prefer to just listen to the originally recording digital audio file, please visit —

This should be the last e-mail message sent to you about this subject unless you reply (again) to me. Thank you for your patience and/or blissful ignorance and/or complacency and/or compliance and/or whatever* (LOL & LTOL**) if or when you read or have read this message.

For those of you who have already replied, thank you very much and for those or you who haven’t, please take a few moments of your time to reply, and let me know what you think or feel, or whether you want to continue or quit receiving e-mail messages like this from me.

P.S. LTOL** — is short for Laugh-Ting Out Loud, courtesy of my other previous brand or title of the Laugh-Ting Coach (circa 2010-2016, maybe beyond?!). Was a hilarious mashup of a typo that seems to have stuck. Another phrase I like to use is For Laugh-Ting and Crying Out Loud!!

P.P.S. Just in case you haven’t already cast your eyes upon, or read my the two recent poems of the subjects, ‘Don’t Quit’ and ‘Don’t Continue’ (my parody version of ‘Don’t Quit’), please visit the following two links. Richard and W. Carlos

Because Google+ is now scheduled to end April 2019, I thought that it would be neat to share favorite and significant music to celebrate our networks pending demise. (The thought occurred to share a post of the Titanic sinking — maybe next one 😉 )

You are invited to visit my blog about my dear friend, John “Richard” Dougherty, who was an excellent musician (and strongly influenced my development as an artist and keyboardist).

Picture taken around 2010 by Hilary Holmes, I believe, for the ‘Sequoia’s Reach’ Music Albums promotion.

I believe that Richard appreciated W. Carlos, and for the pioneering work that s/he did with Moog Synthesizers. Richard conveyed a love of synthesizers and electronic music and strongly influenced me in my approach during my life. We spent many happy days visiting our favorite stores and drooling over the newest synths and digital samplers (of which Carlos would not have appreciated, for Laugh-Ting Out Loud!)

Please select or click on the following link below to bring up my featured blog article.

Musical Applications of Microprocessors

In the 1980’s, I purchased this book, ‘Musical Applications of Microprocessors’ first edition. (I checked online, and it is still available to purchase, as well as the 2nd edition.)

This book is an excellent resource for building DIY projects. It goes into great detail with electronic hardware designs, waveform analysis, and sample software to interface with 8-bit CPUs (6502, Z80, 8080) and 1 16-bit CPU (LSI-11).

You may be interested to learn that I did a Technical Report of Electronic Music Systems in the early 1990’s (based on material from the 2nd edition of this book) and received a 100% for content and style. The report was typed on my Atari 800 and saved using 5-1/4″ inch disks, and printed with a 9-pin dot-matrix printer.

Anyways, I hope to review this book again in detail as I develop and design my AY-3-8910 project and more…

Switched-On Bach II

Found a treasure this evening, at my local Goodwill (2nd-hand shop). Switched-On Bach II — for $1 Canadian!

As I compose this post, I am listening to the glorious stereophonic and high-fidelity sounds of this marvellous vinyl Long-Playing (LP) record.

Curiously, this picture was photographed in portrait mode, and after attempting to put it ‘proper’ for landscape viewing convenience, it somewhat resists getting rotated 90 degrees to the right. With my dual monitor setup, I’m wondering if I’m losing it.

So, rather than waste any further time, and getting down to business of my other projects, you are welcome to turn your head 90 degrees to the right. Besides, in space, orientation is relative, and probably W. Carlos would be amused as well.
